My name is Leanne, I'm 37 and a Mum of 4.

I was first diagnosed with cervical cancer back in 2020, after some irregular bleeds, i hadnt had a smear in a while due to being pregnant or a busy Mum.

When I was diagnosed i was taken aback but surprisingly chilled.

At the time I was married (I'm now seperated, that's another story!) and he was a great support. My family lived a fair distance from my at that time so it was hard for them.

We live alot closer now though and the support it huge!

This is my second load of chemotherapy.

I had radical radiotherapy and 'complimentary' chemotherapy for the initial cancer. Then at the end of 2021 at my 1 year scan they found it had metazised to my lung and a node in my windpipe.

It's now uncurable and I am on pallative chemotherapy.

The leg cramps have been the worst with this current chemo. But on the plus side I have felt like a total space cadet most of the time, which has its plus sides.

Chemo tips:

Drink plenty of water.

Try to eat, even if it's just small amounts. Sleep when you are tired, even if it's 10am. Warm baths/showers help with cramps and aches.

If you have lost your hair and you scalp is feeling tender, coconut oil massaged in really helps.

CANCER TOOK ALOT FROM ME BUT IT HAS GIVEN ME SO MUCH TOO.

ITS HARD TO DESCRIBE BUT ITS CHANGED THE WAY I FEEL AND THINK ABOUT ALMOST EVERYTHING. IVE NEVER BEEN SO POSITIVE AND HAPPY.

I DONT THINK IVE EVER LOVED LIFE MORE THAN I DO NOW.

Get regular smear tests girls!!!

Reach out to others who have been there if you need support and advice.

There's a whole community of people who have first hand experience and want to help other warriors who are fighting their fight!

Feel free to drop me a message anytime ♡
